The United States approaches the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in a spirit of both celebration and reflection. It is in this context that the Aardt Foundation presents this virtual exhibition, installed in a digital twin of an industrial warehouse in Alabama, on ways that communities of artists have dealt with distinctively American landscapes, exploring the nature and effects of both natural and artificial light.  One unifying theme concerns the nature of light in pictorial space, on one’s physical surrounds, and as a non-objective element of perception.
