Digital Waves are computer-generated videos and unique still images composed of millions of particles, utilizing special algorithms to depict the unique movements of the sea. These works utilize hi-res LED panels to display his videos and still images, which are specifically designed to be viewed in this way, creating a refined but still dramatic experience. The resolution of the digital files is at a 1:1 ratio to the resolution of the LED wall – allowing for the video to playback in an uncompressed format. Each work is unique as to content, and the video and stills are cropped to the resolution, size, and shape of the LED wall. The content is displayed on a high-resolution video LED wall. Highly polished lenses protect the tiny LED light bulbs, and the high quality of these lenses allows for a wide viewing axis, which means the artwork looks great from virtually any angle. The LED wall is bezel-free, so the images flow undisturbed all the way to each edge of the LED wall, leaving an impression of infinite space. Unbound by a traditional frame, and with the structural components visible, Ross says his goal was not just to make videos or stills, but to create “sculptures with light-life.”
