At some point in the mid-2000’s, Andre felt that he wasn’t in a position to move and place larger/heavier elements, as had been the case with his work for the many years before; and because the act of placement was essential to his self-understanding as a sculptor, he wasn’t about to delegate the task to someone else with respect to any new work he might create. So, as he explained to Aardt’s founder at one point, he scavenged the stalls at Paris’ renowned Marché aux puces de Saint-Ouen — a flea market, that is — for elements he might use. This small sculpture is thus composed from such materials and has the following installation instructions in its certificate: “two units on floor; red unit atop silver unit, flush in lower left corner.”
